Get the CX810 instead. This has a hair more detail in perfect lighting, but isn't nearly as clear at night compared to the CX810.

Higher MP requires larger sensor size to get the better clarity. Most don't.

I quickly googled info, you are correct. Mostly a marketing trick. Sensor size and pixal density are important factors also

Ty, after posting this I started researching. Seems as though the G4 works pretty well. Will most likely be using them.

Hi @xxhome

"best" is a complicated question for many.

my recommendation is to get ONE good varifocal 4MP 1/1.8" IP PoE camera ( Dahua OEM or Hikvision OEM ) and a small poe switch and play and learn first.

For me, DORI principles are absolutely critical, which translates to getting enough effective pixels on target for good possible Id image shots .. ( see the ipcamtalk cliff notes on DORI )

Cable runs to good placement locations is far more critical imho .. try to ID good locations before running cables

Ty for the advice. I have been planning a system and still trying to decide on cameras. I have ran several antennas on the home so I know my cable routes and I was sold on reolink until I saw that the some of the new cams don't support h.265 so now I am back to square one. Very frustrating.

Do check out the Reolink threads at ipcamtalk.

In general Reolink has more affordable components and suffers in low light image capture.

There's a lot more to setting up a decent security camera setup than just picking up a camera kit. It does take some planning and careful installation to prevent water ingress into the connections and cameras.

Wouldn't say leaps and bounds better. There are plenty of other manufacturers that have had smart detection, low light sensors, for years longer. UNIFI have come a long way, but as you said they are way more expensive. ONVIF support on Unifi will be very nice if they include the features and formats of other cameras. It's basically on the verge of coming out of BETA soon. I have and use UNIFI and other manufacturer systems.

G5 seem to have just as much image quality and have more AI built into them and they are cheaper. Watch lots of YouTube videos and see that this is the route to go IMO.
