Does rice cooked with induction or pressure cooker taste substantially better? I've always eaten rice made from a basic rice cooker - the old ones with one button which stops cooking and switches to keep warm when finished. I've noticed Chinese restaurant rice seems different but just assumed they used less water… never really thought about it much until now.
Since I'm not too picky with rice, I should probably just get a decent basic rice cooker like the Tiger on sale at Costco right now.

My Chinese friends also eat everything. The rice we all avoid is anything long grain.
That being said, any modern rice cooker should be able to cook a variety of grains. The Cuckoo models that I've used have different cooking modes for white, multigrain, glutenous, and bean rice.
