Thanks OP, wanted the i7 version to replace my i5. I still have x86 VMs utilized on it.

Don't let the 32gb ram tempt you, get an M1 or newer over an intel model.

yep, i verified this idiocy....

Implications of Soldered SSDs

Repairability and Upgradability:
Users cannot easily upgrade their storage capacity after purchase

If the SSD fails, the entire logic board may need replacement, which is significantly more expensive than replacing just the storage drive

Data Recovery:
In case of SSD failure, data recovery becomes much more challenging, if not impossible, for the average user

Security Features:
With the introduction of the T2 chip (and later, the M1/M2 chips), the soldered SSDs became integral to the boot process and security features of the Mac

If the NAND (the storage chips) becomes corrupted or fails, the entire machine may not turn on at all.

Don't waste your money on an intel mac. Spend a little extra to at least get the M1 mac mini

This is only a deal if you need an old Intel Mac for some specific purpose, not for general use. Otherwise nothing to see here.

Curious over the course of a year, how much energy saving you might get using a used M1 vs this old i7?

Never owned a mac mini. How do you expand storage i.e. best way to connect multiple 3.5" drives?

For general use, please get at least a M1 chip! It is a better processor and will be supported for much longer than the i7. This is not worth it unless you have a specific use case for it.

Buy and run windows 10 pro on it through bootcamp. hot & noisy fan, no great at all. but, call Apple and provide receipt you will get full 1 year coverage.
