There seem to consistently be deals for a few bucks cheaper but maybe 'less reputable' sellers. For something that you can buy and stack and don't have to jump through conversion hoops (even if it were still the better rate) this isn't bad

Sam's club has a 12-month core for 53.98. So if on expired ultimate then should be $27 for 6 months of ultimate. Going to try later tdy.

You can save about $25-30 compared to this deal if you get two 12-month Game Pass Core subs and a 1-month Game Pass Ultimate sub from CDKeys, Eneba, etc. and do the conversion. But I suppose this is the more "official" route.

I love xbox game pass. If you're kind of person who plays casually then this is perfect. I'm currently playing Persona 3 Reload and it comes with expansion DLC as well.

This ended up being 4 months for me because when I redeemed the code, it asked me if I wanted to enable automatic billing for a free month and I did.

Do these ever expire? Can I buy 2, save them, then activate them the months I actually want to play a game? I switch between many consoles so it doesn't make sense to redeem them both right away. I just wasted so much money forgetting I had my Ultimate on reoccurring payments. I've been hooked on my switch these last several months 😩

They should never expire, but there is a slight risk that increases over time of the same codes being generated & redeemed. It doesn't happen often, but I have had it happen a couple times with various code redemption systems.

My personal rule now is I try not to hold onto unredeemed codes for an extended period. Physical cards I have a bit less concern about than emailed/digital delivery codes, and if I buy codes from sites like Eneba I want to be able to redeem the code ASAP. My GPU subscription is almost at the 3 year limit so I have avoided buying any of these deals just so I don't have to sit on unredeemed codes and risk wasting money by finding out the code was sold to/redeemed by someone else.
