I appreciate that this bank has one type C port that is definitely output only, and I don't have to muck around with making sure the devices are setup correctly to charge the way I intend
I just got back from a week in Germany and took this power bank with me; no problems with TSA/etc.
FUNCTIONALITY
This power bank is great as far as capacity and utility. The display is superb as it tells you the power going through each port (in or out), as well as *time* to full charge or discharge.
OPINION
I use this power bank for travel primarily; it's too heavy / bulky for EDC. That said, if I'm in need of a blunt instrument, this power bank will fit in my jacket pocket and be more useful than a brick. And as for price, I got this as a refurb for $80 IIRC. So $80 for new is great.
- Wattage output and input displayed. Very helpful to see if your cable is limiting the power or not.
- Auto on/charge just by plugging in. No button pushing
- Can simultaneous charge something and be charged
Just bought a 2nd one.Ex: my T-Mobile Home Internet gateway model G4AR is powered by USB-C and came with a 45w adapter. Plugged in to the power bank I've never seen it exceed 20 watts. With that knowledge, I occasionally power it from a USB-C PD car charger that has the required 15 volt profile but outputs less than 45 watts. No issues, and works great when boondocking to run purely off 12vDC.
Also cool to see % charge/discharge on the screen and time til full/empty instead of looking at a few LED indicator dots that flash. I have noticed it throttle its recharging rate when it gets hot so that adds a level of safety in my mind - that only happens when I charge it on my bed. Open air on the kitchen counter I usually see just under 100w consistent from a 100w 120v anker gan charger.
I still have some high capacity PD output power banks that work fine with my macbooks, but the screen makes a difference if you're a fan of data so those don't get much use anymore. Only note is that the form factor is less backpack friendly - I feel better having a flatter traditional power bank in my backpack pushing up against my laptops than a chunky one like this.
Use them all the time in the field to supplement laptops/phones
Highly recommend.
