12700K + B760M+ 16GB DDR4 for $260 keeps coming back at NE, I think it's bound to happen more especially after Ultra 200 release, probably going to be the de facto "MSRP" before 12th gen run out of stock.
7800XT is $430 which offers equivalent -ish performance at lower power draw and more VRAM
H5 Flow is $60 and RM750x Shift/TT GF3 750 is $80
$30 get you an ID-Cooling A620 Pro SE
$60 1TB M.2
For $90 more you can get yourself a brand new build with quality parts and legit warranties. Also 2 games which may be worth something to someone, especially Space Marine 2 is a legit game.
(once upon a time, I tried to build my own switch and iPad from parts and it ended up costing more money lol)

And those numbers you came up with is now $120 more than this not $90, while still on some 3 years old CPU and DDR4. I'm not entirely sure if throwing almost $1k onto an older-gen PC is a good idea.

That's quite a strawman, and I don't. Because I only comment on things I'm confident that I'm bringing accurate value, more or less. And can we acknowledge that not all DIY are equa in terms of difficulties. I'm not here to advocate everyone to make their own desks as carpentry at the very least require an investment in specific tools. If anything, SD and a few reddit subs made me realize that I could totally build my PC and I was a Dell XPS desktop buyers for years. One thing good about this forum is that a lot of times it gives you the eyesight that you wouldn't have possessed otherwise, and I sure hope my post can be helpful in that sense.

And you are totally throwing $800 into evene older hardware if you were to go with this build? I'm not entirely sure about your point? With the bundle you really just throw $200+ on a "dated" (yet very capable) CPU bundle, all the rest are very solid foundation for future updates.
And if the new 0x129 microcode is proven to be stable, there is a slight upgrade on the same socket as well. I guess one can hope.

but it literally says "manufacture refurbished"
1. We are relying on eBay to approve sellers to use this category, and unfortunately, sellers get kicked off after being caught with foul plays, which means we can't fully trust or rely on eBay's ability to ensure the validity of sellers' claims. eBay also makes sellers sign NDA when they apply to the eBay certified program, so we don't know what exactly they are or they aren't doing to filter out bad players.
2. Even if eBay did a good job during a seller's initial application process, once approved, there isn't much that will stop a seller from abusing that and play naughty. You can find many evidence of this, but here are a few: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmaster..._off
This one was actually sold by the same eBay seller: https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLa...furb
And another example:

3. There is also a problem with eBay's seller ratings, especially for sellers that have been around for a while. Until eBay caught up, it used to be very easy to fake/manipulate positive feedback ratings in eBay. I had personally seen underground servers that offered this. eBay fixed their loophole, but there were a ton of sellers that had already built high positive ratings through that trick. I recommend looking up sellers in other places, rather than blindly trusting eBay ratings. For example, for this particular seller, their profile ratings are nowhere near as good as eBay's.
