Hate prebuilt but this is a good rig to play any game at 1440p

Yeah standard parts. The case has terrible airflow and the cooler is subpar. I swapped mine to a 4000d, it is working beautifully

And it would still run much better than a non-k chip on proprietary mobo in a hot oven case with an awful cooler. Can we agree on that?

And you are totally throwing $800 into evene older hardware if you were to go with this build? I'm not entirely sure about your point? With the bundle you really just throw $200+ on a "dated" (yet very capable) CPU bundle, all the rest are very solid foundation for future updates.

And if the new 0x129 microcode is proven to be stable, there is a slight upgrade on the same socket as well. I guess one can hope.
I'm the author of one of the FPs of that deal and people have pointed out about the B650M motherboard in that deal being too weak for i7, so there isn't much of "foundation" about it. The 0x129 upgrade is moot consider it's not going to be able to keep up with the i7 13th gen and up to start with. The Asus Rog Strix GT15 G15CF B660 motherboard this one has has a much more respectable headsink on the VRM.

Yes. $800 is a whole $120 cheaper than this, and it's substantial.

Didn't ask anyone to DIY, this is more of a gauge to judge if a price is competitive or "SD" worthy. Most potential pre-build buyers don't know much about the most updated DIY market pricing and it can impose difficulties on analyzing a deal. If you've been lurking here long enough, you will see most FP prebuild deals can handsomely beat similar spec'd DIY PC, this one? Not so much.

> I'm going to assume you don't go into all the threads on Slickdeals to tell ppl to make it at home instead

That's quite a strawman, and I don't. Because I only comment on things I'm confident that I'm bringing accurate value, more or less. And can we acknowledge that not all DIY are equa in terms of difficulties. I'm not here to advocate everyone to make their own desks as carpentry at the very least require an investment in specific tools. If anything, SD and a few reddit subs made me realize that I could totally build my PC and I was a Dell XPS desktop buyers for years. One thing good about this forum is that a lot of times it gives you the eyesight that you wouldn't have possessed otherwise, and I sure hope my post can be helpful in that sense.
And many "potential pre-build buyers" don't care about DIY, or they don't have enough expertise that they better off buy prebuilt and save their relatives and friends from tech-support misery. DIYers are simply not the target audience of this type deal. This exact kind of thing happens whenever a mini game-console comes out and people would just say "build a Pi with trillion of free games instead". Seems difficult for them to understand some people just don't care about building stuff.

There's market for both. This type of deal should be judge by whether or not it's a good priced prebuilt, not versus the DIY route. If a prebuilt is too expensive vs DIY then more than likely it's too expensive vs other prebuilts too.

Beware. This case is a heat machine. You will need to replace the case with something with better cooling and space.

Just take the side panel off! 👍 and be mature about liquids. I run all my machines open and always have for the past 25 years. You get almost literally no dust in your machine because no dust gets trapped in. As long as you don't have small children or wacky cat, you'll be all good

PSU is good enough at 800w. Do they use standard parts for motherboard and PSU?

My ROG Strix (different model) had a low-end Asus motherboard and low-end power supply. DRAM sticks don't have heatsink. Stock cooler. But, the parts were standard. It's like building from bargain bin and slapping a fancy name and case on it.

Mediocre deal at the very best.12700K + B760M+ 16GB DDR4 for $260 keeps coming back at NE, I think it's bound to happen more especially after Ultra 200 release, probably going to be the de facto "MSRP" before 12th gen run out of stock.7800XT is $430 which offers equivalent -ish performance at lower power draw and more VRAMH5 Flow is $60 and RM750x Shift/TT GF3 750 is $80$30 get you an ID-Cooling A620 Pro SE$60 1TB M.2For $90 more you can get yourself a brand new build with quality parts and legit warranties. Also 2 games which may be worth something to someone, especially Space Marine 2 is a legit game.
pc builder brainrot
this is not meant for you, and your comment is not helpful in this context
any pc builder that sees this wouldn't consider buying it
any prospective buyer for a prebuilt would never heed your "advice" or decide to start learning how to build a pc
might as well tell them to keep their eyes peeled on a certain read it sub read it and buy from a microcenter

as a pc builder myself, this asus prebuilt seems pretty decent (on the outside) for the price (for a prebuilt)

Price in a case swap and new cooler. But it's a good computer.
Or don't and use the ones you just bought. You don't need the lowest temps possible. That's just bullshit to sell you unnecessary water coolers and shit.

DIY is not an option for everybody. I'm going to assume you don't go into all the threads on Slickdeals to tell ppl to make it at home instead (once upon a time, I tried to build my own switch and iPad from parts and it ended up costing more money lol)
A switch and an ipad? That is completely different from plugging computer parts together. What a stupid comparison. Wow.

You are obviously not the target audience for this. Spamming threads with component lists to build it yourself isn't going to convince many people to build it themselves, especially if they only save $90.
"Especially if they only save $90" Do you have trouble reading? Because he didn't say you save $90 by doing it yourself, he said you get to spend $90 more.
