United Airlines and Expedia have round trip airfares travelling to and from Detroit (DTW) and Kailua-Kona Hawaii (KOA) for $386, making 1 stop both ways. These are basic economy fares that allow a personal item. There is no seat selection, no carry-on bag and no change. If you are travelling with children, you will be seated together as per UA's policy.

I'd watch for other major airlines to match this deal. If they do (and Expedia will pull it up) other major airlines will allow a carry-on bag in addition to a personal item.

Travel Availability:
Departs DTW: Nov 5-6, 10-19; Dec 9-11; Jan 5-6, 12-15, 20-31; Feb 2-5, 9-11, 17-19, 24-26; March 3-5, 11, 18
Departs KOA: Nov 5-6, 8, 13-14, 19, 21, 24; Dec 4-6, 10-11, 13, 18; Jan 14-17, 21-24, 28-31; Feb 4-7, 11, 13, 18, 25-27; March 4, 6

To book this deal, use dates and book flights with Expedia [expedia.com] or United Airlines [united.com]. Want to see more travel deals? Click here or here. Disclaimer: List price is an estimate and subject to fluctuate based on air carrier/hotel location, flight times/season or travel dates.

I don't understand why anyone would need a RT trip from Detroit to Hawaii. Once you've left Detroit, why would you need to go back?

Don't trash talk Detroit! We have positive things going on in Detroit, but unfortunately the media only presents the negative.

I apologize. It's easy to be negative. Can you help me understand what Detroit is actually like? In earnest would like to learn more.

Don't apologize. Detroit consistently has some of the highest violent crime rates in the US. That does not mean the entire state is garbage of course, but your initial reaction is not off base either.
