I had 2 of these and the upload would throttle. Make sure to test the speed periodically within the return window.

They dont support it. Its an odd spf (non plus) and if you pop in a 10gb it gets really confused and wont default down to 1gb.

I purchased one from Amazon about 3 weeks ago and hasn't had any issues. When did yours throttle and what was the throttled upload speed?

While I think you'd be better of getting a managed switch for that, for a number of reasons, the switch does appear to support by, literally, flipping a switch. Search for the part#, amd it'll come up with Tenda's product page with details.

It's a 2.5gb/sec SFP, NOT a standard 10gb SFP+. It won't work with a 10gb/sec SFP+. Should work with almost any 2.5gb/sec SFP. looks like they're about $25 on Amazon.

Basically the upload would start out fine at the full 2.5Gb. But after using it a while it dropped to 1Gb upload. After doing a little research it turned out to be a known issue with the chipset used in it. Which might not be an issue with later revisions of this switch. I also had the same issue with their POE switch as well. I had the same issue with a qnap switch as well. So it's not just 1 brand having the issue. It's just older 2.5Gb chipsets.

You might not even notice it unless your upload is higher than 1Gb.

As an FYI, you can find similar switches, but managed and one 10 Gbps SPF+ port, on Ali Express for a similar price. So better specs, but a lesser/unknown brand name and sold by Ali. If it's worth the trade off to you, take a look there.

Looked interesting until I saw that it doesn't run 10gbps SFP+. That plus the reported throttling issues, and it's no wonder they're clearing them out on woot.

I have two of this unit. Decent unit, haven't observed throttling issues but I don't watch closely. I have used several eBay and Amazon 2.5Gb sfps and they work ok but there seems to be better throughput on the rj45 ports over the sfps regardless of all the ones I've tried. Overall still better than 1gb Ethernet if you have the connection to utilize it.
