I don't have ANY homebase and 5 Eufy cameras plus doorbell. Do I need it?

Has anyone else noticed their Eufy devices just stop detecting stuff as much as they used to? I got the 3 pack deal a while back and the doorbell. Used to detect everything no problem, now it seems to only catch people as they're walking away or my car as I'm near parking or turning out of the driveway. Used to work way better. Have been debating what alternatives there are due to it but alas, there's not much.
Yep. I bought 2 Eufy cams 2 pro with HB2 in 2021. One of the cams stopped detecting motion overtime and the other one stopped charging altogether.

Is this a worthy upgrade? I like my Eufy doorbell ok but it is almost impossible to have a conversation, even when on gig wifi in house. Does this cure it?

Definitely. The app shows the list of elegible devices for a trade, so I assume if yours is not currently in the app, it will never show.
I reinstalled HB2 a few hours ago and I still don't see the trade in offer in the app's Explorer section. I still only see the $50 coupon code off a HB3. I wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

Also, does anyone know what happens when you "trade-up" since you don't have to send it back to them? Do they disable it entirely or can I gift it to a family member (my HB2)? A little confused at how you "trade" something you don't have to send in and actually "trade". If you can keep it, and the HB2 works fine still, I'll bite and gift the HB2.

The big drawback of Eufy HomeBase 3 that prevents me from buying it is I cannot add a 3.5 hard drive local storage for recorded video footage. Like a person said, if I buy a 2.5 ssd, it's expensive. A normal 2.5 hdd is max 5TB but NOT reliable. I'm looking for a NAS instead.

I bought it using my current EUFY app, which allowed me to trade in my HB2 with HB3 for $79. It has been 6 days, but there no email about shipment. Another disappointment is that it doesn't include 16TB hdd. So you need to spend an additional $200-$300 for ssd or hdd. I am thinking of adding a few cameras to hb3.
Oh damn...you mean you were expecting a $200 to $300 SSD/HDD to be included in the $79 Homebase 3 purchase you made...and Eufy doesn't include it?! Wow. Just Wow. Shame on Eufy.

I had to pull the trigger! Can we give the V2 to a different person or sell it?

Chatted yesterday with support. They have a backlog and expect to ship these devices out at the end of the month.

My cousin has dealt with Eufy a bit in the past few years. Be prepared to wait a month or 2 for a product when you order directly from them because they do pre-order production batches but won't tell you that

If you are technically inclined, you could consider setting up your own homelab NVR and shop for any brand/variety of RTSP / ONVIF cameras to mix and match for your future needs. The P24's should support RTSP but I don't see the Solo S220's supporting it.

I have a Lenovo M920q tiny set up for 24/7 RTSP recording with Eufy indoor C24 cams, and just expanded the system by adding a Reolink video doorbell.
Which homelab nvr do you use?

I bought an HB3 when they were first announced and used it for 13 months before the unit stopped working. I was on international travel and without any symptoms, it completely ceased to work. Eufy agreed it was dead and not salvageable, offered me a small coupon, and I was dead in the water. Fortunately, they didnt ask for my old homebase on the trade in and I plugged that in to resume functionality.

I use Ubuntu as the base OS and Frigate NVR software. The hardware is a Lenovo M920q Tiny with an i3-8300T, but any PC with an Intel CPU that has an iGPU should work fine. Dell, Lenovo, HP all make Tiny and SFF sized PCs that are available as off-lease / used at a discount.

The Eufy RTSP stream is small (~5gb / day per camera @ 1080p), so I could get away with using SSDs as the storage drives on the Tiny form factor. The Reolink doorbell uses much more space (32gb / day @ 2560x1920). If I had more cameras with higher resolution recording (e.g. "4k cameras"), I'd probably move up to the SFF size PC and use a 3.5" drive.

HB3 was ~$100 several times during the holidays last year. Just FYI
