lol you're right! I was being cheap. Embarrassment The $79 includes 16gb storage. Wish they had the whole HB3 with 16TB for $150-$200 as an option.

Talked with customer support. They claim It does not disable or render your Homebase2 unusable. Went ahead and pulled the trigger. Best case, I like it and gift the HB2 to a family member, worst case I just send it back no harm no foul. The "trade-up" wording is wonky and they should have just called it "Customer Appreciation discount" or ... something ... the word "trade" is too confusing/misleading.

I currently have a HB1 with a 128gb micro SD card. I just looked at my recording history and it looks like it has them saved up until 20 months ago. Pretty impressive long term retention for 128gb and four 1080p cameras. For those who've upgraded to 4k cameras, how long has your recording retention lasted before getting overwritten with the HB3, how many 4k cameras, and how much storage do you have? Thanks.

This is a hard sell... I have a home base 1 and it has micro SD card slot and built in battery backup. Having to spend an extra $40 on tiny UPS and $50 for an internal HDD makes this an expensive upgrade even on sale.
