I have both, and for my use, I find the Apple TV UI is much more snappy than the Shield. The Shield also has strange frame rate syncing issues even after years of updates and attempts to force sync the frame rate on certain streaming services. Unless I'm streaming 4K UHD rips for lossless surround audio, I use the Apple TV for everything else.
