Saw this miter box at my local Lowe's on clearance for $12.49, down from $50. Works much better than the plastic boxes and takes up less space than a powered saw. Mine seems to be quite accurate out of the box.

OP, do you have the table system that it mounts to or did you mount it another way? I've seen these for a month or so at this price but don't have the table and was wondering what it would take to figure out another way to mount it.

I've walked past dozens of these at this price the last couple weeks. I had all intentions of avoiding them! But, then I was trying to cut dowels down to 1.5" last night on my miter saw and realized this would be perfect. I don't have the table, but I've got plenty of clamps and a workbench. That being said, for $12 and to cut dowels or similar small size pieces is about all this is good for. Definitely not for doing trim and there are way better options for plumbing.

I only have my grandpas miter box from a century ago. Why would this new fangled design need a special table? Is there some reason it couldn't be screwed or clamped to just about any work surface like the old ones?
