The lack of a regular SSD is such a let down. UFS drive instead of NVME and soldered to motherboard
It comes down to power draw. UFS is much more power efficient.

This things trackpad is awful, there is so much lag between input and it registering. They've had years to fix this but instead they focused on making sure the bottom bezel is big enough for their terrible logo.

It is $680 with a edu account. Is this really such a bad laptop? Prive has fallen drastically and if you consider the 10% cash back you can get, it would be around. $610.
Argh, it misclassified me as an employee, rather than a student. On with chat hoping they can fix it

I'm on Samsung ecosystem mostly and use m1 macbook air (base version). Have been looking to out switch to one of these for easy connectivity and sharing, but looks like these things never gonna catch up the macbook airs. People complaint about 8GB ram in 2024, never had a problem with that for coding or multiple chrome tabs so far.

Similar price from last deal with the iPad trade in. Definitely enjoying mine for daily office work, great portability. At this price, you can probably live with some comprises from the ARM system. Get the 14", I believe the 16" is a bit prone to screen cracking given how large and thin the screens are.

No Google drive/Nord VPN is a deal breaker for me as I sync everything through the desktop app. Also, many programs are not natively supported yet and unless the next generation shows promises against lunar/arrow lake and Zen 5 I doubt developers will invest much more time in the compatibility issues at this point.
https://nordvpn.com/blog/windows-arm-release/ and Google Drive was announced at IFA as coming soon.

Downsides outweigh the positive. X Elite is already efficient enough. Not including upgradeable SSD is designed for obsolescence.

I picked this up with the iPad trade in a few months ago. Came from a MBA M1. I'd say I regret the change but I'm more comfortable in the Windows ecosystem.
Some issues I've had with it. When I first got it, full screen videos would skip at random intervals and go black. They've fixed this with an update.
The trackpad and keyboard are quite a bit worse than the MBA.
Battery drain while idle seems high and the laptop has to be plugged in every 1-2 days with my workload. The MBA could go much longer.
Currently having issues connecting my Galaxy Buds 3 to it. Buds connect but output continues to be through the built in speakers.

I was holding out for a samsung laptop with 32gb of ram, but odds that samsung releases a book5 pro with 32gb of ram are probably around 0% only the ultra seems to get 32gb.

for this price it might be worth overlooking the 16gb of ram and non replaceable SSD

got a question for the trade-in:
what generation is Macbook Air mid 2013?
edit:
chat with the cs, and they say mine is 5th gen, and can be trade in as 4th gen
edit the edit:
someone post a wiki for the macbook air down below, and it was helpful.

it's good for things that you don't need a windows. No online gaming. No Google drive. But most things else works ok.screen is good. laptop is light. Keyboard is ok. compatibility sucks. Any game sucks. performs like a u series, if not worse. I returned mine when it was $400 with a $500 trade in value for a $50 ipad. But considering people are spending $1k for shitty ipad that is nothing more than a streaming TV with a powerful but useless soc, it may be a good buy for this.
Would you please explain about the trade in process? That is a wonderful trade in value for an iPad!
