That surprises me. Active pickups like EMG's have been around for 40+ years.

I have a Schecter Syn Custom. Battery for the sustainiac in this one.

For anyone who's older like me, one note that threw me when my Schecter arrived was the active pickups. I had no idea that these things existed that required a 9 volt battery for the pickups to work.

I will say, the Schecter's action was setup perfectly, the sound is great, and the heads kept everything in tune for a good while. I had never owned one before and honestly they're pretty impressive guitars.

Yeah those are a bit of a pain, but looks like this particular Schecter has passive pickups, with no battery required.

Yeah, not sure how what "older" has to do with it unless it means "haven't been guitar shopping since the Carter administration". Active pickups have been readily available since the early 80's and pretty common in guitars marketed to the metal crowd since the late 80's/early 90's. My first custom "metal" guitar I had built had a pair of EMG 89s and an EMG SA in probably 1993 or 1994.

Likewise, most acoustic/electrics have used a 9v battery in their preamp with an active pickup since Takamine introduced them in the 80's.

I'm sure they were, but I'm talking the average guitar a teenager could afford in the mid 80s.

Made in Korea, which I'd say is typically on par with MIM. Stainless XJ frets and USA pickup are huge pluses at this price. Good quality nut and woods. Looks like a comfy neck heel. Wish it had locking tuners, but it's not a must.

My only true hesitation would be missing both the neck pickup and the tone knob. I can live without one or the other but missing both is very limiting.

Still, 80% of my playing is the bridge pickup with the tone dialed up, so I think this covers a lot of ground for a lot of people.

Shit, my 98 Korean LP is built like a tank.
