This is mostly incorrect - it's an automatic, meaning it winds as you wear it. This is generally considered different than (what watch brands call) "mechanical" which require manual winding (although some people group those together). Whether you prefer that or a solar-charging, battery-powered eco-drive is personal taste, but this is a very good price for a well regarded entry level automatic diver regardless.

Mechanical drive. Although it uses no battery, it has a mainspring that must be wound.

Still prefer the Eco-Drive, which is basically maintenance-free.

It's been in sell at joma shop for a while now. This is like 10 bucks cheaper though. I am curious how the quality is, anyone bought this watch?

I assume mineral vs sapphire crystal, since nothing listed about it.

One of my early dive watches when I started watch collecting a decade ago. No longer own japanese but the entry level Citizens > entry level Seikos as Citizen does a better job of regulating their movements from factory than Seiko which is a crap shoot. Heck..I might pick one up for weekend beater!

Isn't the crown normally on the other side of these? Is that normal design now?

Not typical for most watches (as they're designed for righties to be able to adjust the time and/or wind them while being worn on the left) but a bit of a fun quirk for this and some other series of divers. Its theoretically to keep the crowns from catching on gear or digging into your hand while flexing your wrists, even 99% of the people who own these would take them off before going in a 6 foot pool.

True… but watch folks / purists love mechanical. ⚙️ I mean it's incredible how inexpensive the Japanese can offer mechanicals via Swiss… but this doesn't have sapphire crystal which is a deal breaker. Eco drive is maintenance free…. Just don't leave it in a dark drawer for months on end

I paid too much for an Aquaracer… so I make sure I go to the beach with it and it's 300M water resistance. If it was an apocalypse… citizen and Casio and Rolex would be my choices

Mineral crystals do kinda suck. It's gonna get scratched, and in this current economy where sapphire crystals can be had for $10 in bulk, there's very little excuse not to use them.

Get Citizen for Eco-Drives, but if you want Japanese automatics then get Seiko.
