I'm not sure why SD shows both Pro and Plus pictures...
Regarding the $200 for 18TB deal - when was it? The storage prices seem to be going up, so am not sure if we ever see $15/TB (and lower) deals again.
Thanks.

If you are ok with shucking a drive you can get sub 15/tb with easystore/elements WD drives.
On prime day, I grabbed 2 20tb elements for $266/ea (13.3/tb) so there are deals out there. Black Friday is getting close, I'd imagine that at least we should see $200 for 14tb easystore from Best Buy at a minimum (a fairly common deal).

Can't remember when the 18tb deal was but you can search for it.

Somewhat apples and oranges, but you could buy 5-6 HGST 12TB Server pulls for this price.

Which is apples and oranges as well 🙂 It's a new vs used, and manufacturer warranty vs seller warranty debate. To each their own I guess. But in my opinion those server pulls are a great option for storing less critical data. I'm actually seriously considering buying them to store big videos.

Mechanical drives...
I'm glad I don't need high capacity storage. I would dread the day these drives fail or start clicking.

That's a lot of data to lose. And all these Mechanical drives eventually fail.

QLC SSDs will probably die before a mechanical hard drive.

Well these mega storage devices are used for what they are. Data written to it then read off them mostly.
Not like busy work ssds reading and writing all the time.
