What is everyone's collective opinion on Skil? Right now I have all Ryobi ONE+ so it's light duty stuff all around, but I'm concerned about the battery or tool dying in six months (of infrequent use). I don't have any experience with this brand or their warranty support etc.

i like that they have a solid pedigree and are not tied to a particular retailer.

the history is interesting

Skil is a subsidiary of Chervon (HK) Ltd., a Chinese tool manufacturer also known for the Ego, Devon, and Flex brands of power tools. In 1996, the Skil power tool brand, which had existed in some form since the 1920s, was acquired by Robert Bosch GmbH, the same company that owns and created the Bosch tool brand. This would expand Skil's product offerings well into the 2000s, when in 2017, Skil would be acquired by Chervon.

Founded in Nanjing, China, in 1994, Chervon would have a joint venture with Bosch in 2007 before acquiring FLEX, a German brand, in 2013. The Chinese tool manufacturer then acquired both the Skil and Skilsaw brands a few years later.
your ryobi tools will not die from six months of infrequent use.

I think they are good for around the house projects. I have bought into their 12v and 40v lawn tools. I am satisfied.

Dead on AMZ. I have the 20v drill and like it better than my old dewalt or the neighbors newer dewalt drill.
As for taking lugs off a truck.... Hell no lol

Possibly but aren't most major wheel/suspension tools/sockets use 1/2 inch?

They've had most of the 20v line on sale at my local Lowe's for weeks. I ended up picking up the 12v Jigsaw a few weeks ago to put some LVP in my daughter's room and it worked well. Mostly invested in DeWalt and a few Ryobi brushless tools, or I'd have considered these. At the price, it's hard to think about Ryobi, even though I do like my trim router and circular saw.

Here's my take and experience on this product. They had this on Lowe's website I ordered 1 received it and the battery was damaged on arrival (was wet all over with acid etc) returned it they sent a 2nd one and the same thing damaged battery wet with acid all in box. The price was 165.00.
The battery felt ultra cheap compared to a Craftsman brand which is what I wound up buying. Cheap product destined to fail.

new skil line are solid. I have the 12v compact drill best thing ever for home diy. i had the bosch 18v compact prior. I like the skil alot better does all my needs. see no difference btwn my skil 12v vs bosch 18v other than size.

lugs nuts for auto you definitely need 18v-24v. you could do with 12v but its may struggle or you have to use breaker bar 1st. I wished the 12v and 20v chargers were compatible. went to lowes the other day i see most of the 12v line being usb-c charger.

I bought this a couple months ago at this price at Lowe's and love it. It did take lug nuts off my GMC canyon that had been on for close to a year, albeit, very slowly. Won't replace my Milwaukee high torque, but it's a nice second impact wrench.

Since my good experience with it, I've picked up the brushless rear handle circular saw, brushless sawzall, brushless oscillating multi tool, brushed jigsaw, and have the brushless grinder on order. It's all been great.

I currently have m18, m12, and Ryobi stuff already and would rate these kinda not as good as m18 fuel obviously, but a lot nicer than Ryobi. Like they've all been amazing for the deals I've gotten and i haven't had any issues as an ancillary brand to fill in some tools.

I started off with Ryobi and moved to Dewalt and Milwaukee. But the funny thing is my Ryobi tools are still going strong after 7 years. Never had to replace a battery. They are made by the same company as Milwaukee. Ryobi and Milwaukee are both well-known tool brands, but they are not manufactured in the same facilities by the same people.

While they are both owned by the same parent company, TTI (Techtronic Industries), they are distinct brands with their own manufacturing processes, designs, and product lines.

TTI owns multiple brands in the power tool industry, and each brand typically maintains its own manufacturing facilities, engineering teams, and quality control processes. This allows each brand to maintain its own identity and target specific market segments.

I have like 8 12v skil tools...I use them more than my 18v Milwaukee stuff. absolutely love them.
