at the store now and i came across this Lego luggage set at my local Costco (Bay Area, CA). Only the red set was sold at this particular store, but display price was $99.99. Costco online has all three colors, Red, Yellow, and Blue for $114.99.

Honestly, don't know how durable or great this luggage set is, but could be cool for Lego fans and kids. It seems the trolley itself was $150 at other retailers and is mostly showing OOS now.

As if overhead bins aren't already tight - lets add some lego pips to get caught on the door edges and make loading the bins take longer.

If the extra intrusive girth actually had a purpose- like lock the two pieces (side to side for doorways), maybe.

After seeing them in store, this would be like a $40 set if it weren't Lego branded/design. Maybe once they go on clearance I'll pick a set up.

I'll be glad when this lego crap is over. I hated them as a kid, and ~45 years later, I still hate them. I think they're excruciatingly stupid. I have never seen anything built with legos and thought, "Hmmm, that's cool." Not once. Just pixelated plastic garbage.

That would make it way too functional and make too much sense

And 45 years later they're even more popular. I guess you'll have to keep waiting

Note that the LEGO backpack is a standard design which itself is normally at a deal price around the $25-30 mark. As such this would value the trolley around $70-75 which is a bit high given the dimensions.

Dimensions & Weight:
  • Trolley
    9.06" W x 13.98" L x 22" H
    6.08 lbs
  • Backpack
    5.12" W x 9.45"L x 15.74" H
    1.01lbs
Those trolley dimensions put it well over the personal item size for budget carriers like Spirit [spirit.com] and Frontier [flyfrontier.com] (8x14x18). In fact, this trolley will be a tight squeeze for some major carriers such as United [united.com] as a carry on (9x14x22). Carry on specifications for Southwest [southwest.com] are historically more liberal so this works fine there (10x16x24).

Of course, all of this assumes that the listing correctly measures the height dimension (too often manufacturers don't properly account for the wheels).

Personally I was hoping for something more kids-oriented which would be sized for the limited personal items sizes of the budget carriers mentioned above (there are other LEGO options [ful.com] in that range).

Good luck!
Jon
