Probably the best delayed sequel ever. Completely different tone than The Shining, but picks up the story perfectly. Mike Flanagan always respects the source material but adds his own flair to the adaptations. Great great movie

I just realized -- on Prime Video there will be ads now, right? The Directors Cut digital UHD is $4.99. Is it Movies Anywhere compatible?

EDIT: I see it's also offered on MAX (no commercials), but not the Directors cut.

Unfortunately, there are ads when you stream videos available through Prime Video now. Sometimes you get lucky and they just put a few at the beginning, but other times you don't, and they pop up in the middle with a few ad breaks unless you pay extra for the ad-free plan.

Held off on watching this for a long time because I didn't care for the book much. Just watched it last week though and was very pleasantly surprised. Liked it a lot.

If you have a half way decent setup, disc is definitely worth it.
The AQ on this(&BR) are pretty good, well worth getting either disc.

Yes, Movies Anywhere compatible. It is one the annoyances of Amazon video that they can't be bothered to make note of such a feature..

Director's cut is what you want to watch. I can't imagine anything being able to be cut out. It's a really good adaptation of a King book which isn't easy to pull off. I usually hate movies made from his books.

I think this movie is great but I don't think I can watch the director's cut again. The scene with the baseball kid is truly disturbing (I normally don't get phased by horror/gore but this scene hit a nerve). I still recommend it to anyone who's a fan of The Shining.
