Metro phones bought before may 2024 will unlock in 180 days. Any phone after that date is 365 days.

Two weeks ago I bought a 2024 Moto G Stylus 5G from Metro. In the Device Unlock section it states that the phone status is Locked. It also states that "Device must be used on this phone number for 180 days" before it is fully unlocked. There is also a link to Metro's 365 days unlock policy.

No matter what I do, it keeps charging me $300+ once added to the cart, despite saying it will be 0.00 right before I add it to the cart. I have 2 12s on existing lines, and want to add this as a third. anyone know the fix/workaround? Thanks

Was able to finally add a 2nd line last night for $35. Numberbarn was no go, Visible worked. Took some time finagling the website and it worked better on Firefox than Chrome for me. Also failed a fraud check one night, waited a couple days and tried again and then passed the fraud check lol.

Has to be VZ or ATT number for discount -- can't be TMo based or VoIP

That's kinda the point of the extended unlock. Same reason Cricket requires 6 months of paid service.

They want to the discounted phones to go to customers who will use the service. They don't want below cost devices going to flippers and resellers. So they increase the friction.

It's the razor blade model.

BTW, trade-ins can be SIM locked, so the new policy doesn't stop you from doing a trade in deal.

I think two smartphone lines with the discount is the limit, you can't get 3rd line for the promotional price even with non-tmobile trade in .
You can get tablet at discount with 2 lines already in your account but can't get one more phone with discount

That's not true. I got a iPhone 13 then a Moto Edge for $35 then another iPhone 13 for $99 plus $35.

Try adding 3rd iPhone, it won't work.
At least that's the case with three accounts I have.
