At least that's the case with three accounts I have.
If you're selling it on, having an eSIM on the device will open you up to a Not as Described claim on eBay, etc. if you sold it as "brand new". If the eSIM (and account, suspended or not) is paired to the device and you sell it on to a Metro user, they won't be able to activate it on Metro and that will also generate a Not as Described claim.
If you want to resell the smart thing to do is:
- Activate the line.
- Move the line to another device to ensure the original IMEI is clear.
- Factory reset the iPhone.
You can do all of that with an open box, without having to remove the plastic on the phone.Advertise it as "like new, open box, SIM removed" and anyone buying will know exactly what they're getting.
1. Activate the line—> is it with physical or eSIM or doesn't matter ?
2. Move the line to another device to ensure the original IMEI is clear — so after activation call metro to change the sim to another unlocked phone ?

Once a device becomes eligible for unlocking (eligibility requirements are described below), Metro by T-Mobile will automatically and remotely unlock the device within two business days if the device supports remote unlock.
Some devices cannot be remotely unlocked by Metro by T-Mobile. In these cases, Metro by T-Mobile will send a notification to the device within two business days of it becoming eligible, with next steps to complete the unlock process.
