70 plan
Figured out. Google voice number doesn't work. Sign up for Visible with $20 discount code = $5 for 1st month service (remember to disable autopay) then request port out. Go back to Metro and able to place order, 1st month of service $75, so $80 for iPhone 12 is not bad

I bought 3 free phones ($75 + $35 +$35) from Metro within a period of 15 days. My intention was to not pay for the second month of service. I ported out the phone number of the first phone that I bought. Right away Metro changed the Flex plan cost of the 2 remaining phones from $35 to $75 effective from the first month and beyond. I also got a text from Metro 611 stating that I had to immediately pay $64. I assume that was for the 2 remaining phone's first month of Flex plan adjustment. I checked my Metro online account several times and I did not see anywhere that I had to pay the $64. So I will just ignore it. I don't know if porting out the second or third phone and leaving the first phone has the same effect. If I were to buy a fourth phone using the same account, I will probably be charged $75 for the Flex plan. So, no more discount.
Were you able to figure out the uncertainty about the message telling you to pay additional $64? Also curious why Metro's math worked out to $64.

Could purchase then cancel service and immediately trade it in at the Apple Store?

Yes for 1 year..
Do I have to pay 1 year of service or wait 1 year to unlock it?

Thanks
Figured out, but keep getting this error when trying to add to cart on Metro: "Sorry, we are currently experiencing issues adding this item to your cart—please refresh and try again." 🤔. Will retry in the morning. Thanks again.

If possible, avoid buying a cell phone with only 64 GB of storage in 2024.

The Metro 611 text telling me to pay the $64 immediately was probably was just an accounting adjustment. I looked everywhere in my Metro online account and I did not see the $64 charge. I will just ignore it. After porting out the phone number for the first phone I lost the $35 discount for phone #2 and #3. So I had to pay $150 for the first month for phone #2 and #3. Metro already collected ($35 + $35) , so $64 is the prorated amount that I allegedly owed for the first month for phone #2 and #3. It was prorated because I bought phone #2 and #3 at different dates based on the due date of phone #1.

I do not know what will happen if you ported out the phone number for phone #2 and #3 and kept phone #1. Different people will have a different amount that is due immediately. You an just ignore it.
