Yes you can do that but if you're planning to sell the phone later on you should unpair the phone from your Metro account. You can do that by switching the device for the line to another phone that isn't currently active with Metro.
Would porting the Metro number out to a new carrier/parking the number with a new carrier/company like numberbarn or Tello result in the phone being unpaired from the Metro account?

Would deleting the eSIM also be necessary?

I was told that letting the account expire would not result in the phone getting unpaired. I wasn't able to get a definite answer regarding porting the number out.

I was told that to unpair the phone you either need to do a device switch on the line or delete the eSIM. Deleting the eSIM is simplest but would require you to unseal the box of course.

Your account's billing cycle remains the same so all your lines will be suspended in 2 days (you can't pick and choose which lines you want to pay) -- the 2nd line you just activated will get a prorated credit to reduce your 2nd month's amount due but you still need to pay for all the lines if you want service for 2nd month You can order/activate/port out lines during the free 72hr extension during your 2nd month but you need to get it done within the 72hr window -- after that all your lines are suspended again until you pay the amount due (your account will be deleted after that 2nd month if you didn't pay)
Currently I have 3 lines (well, the third phone is being shipped right now), and I might have time to order a fourth line. Either way, the only number I want to keep is line #1 (the one I paid $75 for)... and I have a Verizon-locked phone that will not unlock before the end of my first billing cycle with Metro. I guess I was wondering if I should:

- Port out lines 2, 3 (and possibly 4) to Numberbarn to "park" them so that the lines get cancelled and so that I can just pay for the single line for a second month? Then in the 3rd month, establish a cheaper plan with whichever company makes more sense (Visible, US Mobile). The reason for considering porting out lines 2-4 is that someone posted about porting out their 1st ($75) line and getting notified that they needed to pay $64 immediately. And I don't really have another unlocked phone that I could port my first line to...

- If I didn't pay for any line for a second month, I worry I'd lose the primary number I would like to keep.

Any suggestions for a more cost-efficient method?

Ah, ok. It's not that important to me to keep any of these phones in a sealed box.

I got one device iphone 13 and activated it but when I tried to add another line and port another number, it went to port in process, waited 5 mins online and crapped out, tried this twice or thrice, even called CS and they cancelled the port in. Now, it still allows me to port in the number I want to but the order doesn't go through with a weird error. I am trying to get S24 FE

sorry we are currently experiencing technical difficulties - I tried multiple browser and even new account but the issue is the same, any guesses what can help here?
I have the same issue. Just activated my account the tried to purchase a 2nd iphone but got the error at the last step.

What I was told by the porting team is that my account is too new. I need to wait at least 24 hours to place another order. Not sure if that's true but will give it a try tomorrow.

Let me know if you find a different solution.

I think that they have tightened down. I got 3 lines no problem but can't get a fourth and when I tried setting up a new account with all new information except for address they shot me down again. Three is fine I guess.

Try to activate the phone first if you are using the port in number to login.

Am I understanding that line #1 is your primary mobile number and you currently don't have any non-Metro lines/plans? Hence you would be without mobile service if you were to port all Metro lines to NumberBarn? It may be more cost-effective to buy a second hand unlocked phone to get you by until your Verizon-locked phone unlocks.

Why did you originally prefer to use a Tracfone number instead of getting one for $5 from Visible (which is what most people are posting that they are doing)?
I just had tracfone's annual plan 3000MB/3000min/3000sms plan for $50. It was my personal number and the deal showed up. THough this story happened 2-3 years ago.

So i plugged my TF number to check and metro shown approved but visit store. That is how i figured how TF works - would never buy TF for port out deals anymore.

Hi, after adding 2nd line do u have to wait for 2nd phone to be shipped before adding 3rd line? Just wanted to make sure as system is not allowing to add 3rd line as my 2nd phone is not yet shipped.
