How are you supposed to switch the eSim to the new device? I used to switch physical sim easily
You can switch devices online but sometimes it doesn't work and you have to call Metro's porting department. But anyways, please disregard what I posted earlier - the device won't unlock if you don't turn it on and activate it.

Call them.
I never received an email to activate. I called them and activated within 10 minutes.
all you need is the order number to activate. just look for the link in this thread

So it seems to be working after 24 hrs, I think the issue in my case was port-in as you mentioned, for them to cancel the port-in, the number gets locked for 24 hrs and after that you can try again.

This is interesting. Maybe they want the first phone to be active on tower and overnight system update to reflect your first line to allow next day second line adds.

The above posters failed, cause probably they had port in request not cancelled and pending for second number which prevented from ordering.

I traded in iphone 12 to ATT for upgrade installment, website said 1000 credits when I ordered but I received only 350 credits.
Now they updated their web and showed only 350.
I had a feeling of beeing cheated by ATT.Chat with ATT and wanted to get iphone 12 back and turned in iphone 13 promax for 1000 credits but they declined.
Now I am calling to cancel upgrade because it is less than 14 days but they let me to listen to music only.
Be careful with ATT, misleading customers.
It depends on the date of trade-in. Hopefully, you tradedin at a store and not mailed in. If you have the receipt date, the CSR can look up the the promo terms on that date. I had a similar problem last year. Took me a bit of calling, but finally they just gave me a credit for the difference (rather than adjusting the bill pay).

That's interesting that they moved it to the same tier as XR/XS, SE2/3 to $350 off. I see minimum for $700 is now a 12 Pro.

Usually T-Mo brings decent deals around Thanksgiving. Not sure if AT&T will do something similar. Hope T-Mo and VZ don't follow AT&T and downgrade value for 12.
I hope they do bring the valuation back around BF/Dec. Historically, they have reduced the overall amount prior to BF, and then bring it back to upto 1000. This is a different scenario though.

Thanks for your feedback. For some reason I thought it was possible to have the phones unlock without turning them on. Maybe I was getting mixed up with Straight Talk. Anyways, I went and looked up Metro's unlock policy (https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy):

Later on it states:

They have spelled out the distinction between account activation and device/phone activation. I think you are right in that the phone will not unlock if it's kept sealed, and it's not worth the risk to find out.

So now I have a dilemma. I had previously switched the device for the line that was originally paired to my sealed 12. Should I try switching it back to this 12? The problem is that the account that I had used to purchase this 12 just became suspended. I can request a 72 hr extension but I'm not sure if it will let me switch devices during the extension period and whether this phone will activate properly even if I'm able to switch?

Or, I have another phone on the way for a newly-created Metro account. Would it be ok to switch the device for that line to my sealed 12, which I would then turn on and activate? In otherwords, will the unlock timer get triggered properly if the phone is activated on a different account from the one it was originally purchased on?
Yes, the phone will unlock as long as you activate with any active metro pcs mobile number. Once you get the new phone, activate the esim on that phone and next day call customer service and ask them to transfer esim to the sealed 12 you have, now activate esim on this phone, this should be enough to trigger the unlock timer.

Just FYI, you can change you visible number via chat pretty easily.

I did not know that until last week I could not port 1 number. Took 2 minutes via online chat with the bot, I change to a different number and port went through fine.

All monthly service costs will vary as some of us have discounts/free lines on our plans when joining or when they were available. I currently pay $144 a month for 11 lines on Go5G Plus. It's cheaper for me than a MVNO. I think the standard costs for Go5G Plus is $150 per month, but can be as low as $120 per month.
Same here, $171 for 12 on Go5G+ with 6-paid, 6-free & Insider, free & BOGOs added over the past few years. It's $14.25/line. Can't beat this with any MVNO.

Metro now has provided us with 6 phones to trade-in. 🙂
