I'd recommend starting with 4. It has the most interesting and engaging story, in my opinion. Persona 5 is far more flashy and visually impressive, but all of the heart is in Persona 4. The games have nothing to do with one another (well, in a way similar to how Pokemon games have nothing to do with one another) so it's fine to play them out of order. Persona 3 was recently remade as Persona 3 Reload, and I'd much sooner recommend that version of the game over this one.

Edit: by 4, I mean "Persona 4 Golden" (Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a spin-off fighting game starring Persona characters.)
