It is very highly rated by professionals:

"For those who have the space and budget for a larger sub, it should definitely enter into strong consideration. Home theater enthusiasts will enjoy its deep bass prowess, and audiophiles will love its clean, linear bass. "
If you have no brand preference and price is a main consideration.
This can be "deal" to consider.
You get 30 day trial with a $50 return fee for the 10s, $150 return fee for the 12.

The $35 savings is approximately a 15% discount. You need to determine if that is a substantial enough savings.

One thing to note: I have hardwood floors and the vibrations were bad at first so after purchasing the sub I bought washing machine pucks but there wasn't a big enough difference. I was ready to return when I thought why not try an old neoprene back belt under it and bingo it solved ~90+% of the vibrations so I'm happy. (The pucks I put under the couch to raise the height and prevent it from moving)
Also, I had a subwoofer cable that was extremely too tight in both the receiver and the sub and it pulled out part of connection when I tried to remove the cable (it was the cable's fault). I emailed rsl support and within an hour I got help and I was able to fix it. It seems this is a brand that actually cares about its customers.
In general if you're layout will be pushing the limit and or you listen at higher levels then the S2 might be the better option.
Upon saying that if that's the case for both and plan to stick to one sub.
Might be worth biting the bullet and go with the 12 as long as your layout can accommodate the size.
