  • When selecting to earn AAdvantage miles, you will forfeit your Gold or Silver status fuel savings

AA miles are at least 3 times better to redeem than Delta. I can easily book using 1/3 the number of AA miles compared to what it cost booking using Delta miles. Delta miles are almost worthless.

This is the most insightful comment on this thread. I used to link American Airlines as my partner and the miles accumulated were peanuts. It would not let me take advantage of fuel discounts. You're better off with the 5 cents off per gallon for being gold with Fuel Rewards, and much better off adding additional promo discount codes (T-mobile) for the immediate fueling discount than accumulating miles.

250 miles is like $1.50. You need 4000 miles to purchase internet on the domestic flight which is usually $19.99.

Yes, AA Miles expiring two years. Since I stopped flying AA over 10 years ago, I've had to set a reminder for myself every two years to go in and buy some miles or use some rewards to avoid losing my stash
