It's not the adapter. It's your car. It powers the usb port even when the car is off.

I went through 3 to 4 of these within a few years, kept dying. A lot of people have issues with it dying within a few months to a year

Remember your car needs to have android auto for this to work. All this does is allow you to do it wirelessly. If your car is not prepped for Android Auto, you need a more expensive retrofit.

I grabbed one of these at Target a few months ago for my 2019 Fusion Hybrid. Been really happy with it so far. It's actually a little quicker and less buggy than my newer Ford that came with wireless Android Auto.

Hopefully, motorola comes out with a new version that can sense when you turn off your car so that it doesn't keep the dongle powered on for hours.

I bought one the last time it was in the low $30s at target. Worked perfectly well in my hyundai and works in my nissan. Nissan has a little issue as it doesn't always connect and I've had to unplug it and then plug it in again. And then it works fine for a few days.

It has heat issues

I kept it in a closed din compartment and it died quickly

For my new copy I leave it open and it was fine over the summer

Mine died within 6 months. Judging from other comments, this is a regular occurrence. I would not recommend buying this.
