This is a good deal, but unless you really need one, maybe wait. Purchased 2 DCBP520C (with chargers) on Fasteners Inc last week for $79.00 each. $10 coupon for new email sign up. Free ship at $150 so searched for something >$2. Added this: DeWalt DWHT10045 25mm Single Blade Snap-Off Knife, which is HUGE by the way. Delivered total $154 or $72ea.

Is this power stack a significant improvement to the regular 5ah battery?

Bought the old one with charger used for $97:

Are these even real? I mean they are 200 at any brick and mortar and all of these are sold by 3rd party just shipped by Amazon. I would say be careful.

I would not say a significant difference between the two, but I feel like it delivered a bit more juice when running paddle bits in my impact. That said, I prefer the powerstack. It's slightly thinner and a bit wider than the regular 5.0ah so my impact doesn't fall over quite as much when I set it down.

Generally pouch cells—used in the Powerstack batteries—are capable of delivering more current more quickly than cylindrical cells, used in the older-style batteries. So they're best for bursty, high-torque tools. Pouches also allow for maximizing space, so they're smaller and lighter. Downside is they generally don't last as long, both between charge/discharge and overall longevity. Another benefit is that when they go, they usually don't explode, they just expand and bust the plastic they're contained in. (Though I've never had a li-ion battery—of any type—catch fire personally.)
OTOH, cylinder cells are a commodity, so generally less expensive. They tend to last longer with tools that use moderate power over a duration of time (as in lifespan, more so than just how long between charge and discharge).

Unless you need these (pouch) batteries for a specific reason, don't buy, unless you like paying more.

They are HUGE (base of 20v 5ah is similar in size to my 60v batteries).

They are the same weight, according to my bathroom scale.

The ones marked with the huge "Power Stack" are old stock. Just received, 1.5 yrs old.

What's the difference between the power stack and non power stack? Picked up the chainsaw deal earlier this week but now I need a battery.

ScooterComputer explained it well above.

In short, powerstack batteries are capable of delivering more power faster. It makes a difference for some tools (using high torque, short bursts, etc). May be worth it if you use those tools frequently.

even it if said sold by dewalt, I would still be worried about it being counterfeit if buying off amazon
