They validate your name + address and other info now. Last time I tried to order from QVC was in March. Was actually ordering for my elderly grandparents since they needed a low spec phone + cheap plan. But somehow the transaction was flagged and had to call in. Not exactly sure what caused the flagging. Since grandparents were legit new customers I used the new customer code. When calling in they used info like like DoB, previous address, etc to verify who you are now. Couldn't get the transaction through since grandparents aren't able to call by themselves and I'm not going to pretend I'm an 80 year old. They do all this for a $50 transaction, which is a bit overkill IMO.

TF only has hotspot for monthly paid unlimited plans, this plan is considered promotional since it's included with a phone (bundled service) and not eligible either.

Whenever you see a HSN/QVC deal on SD, remember:
1. Don't use a new user coupon if you aren't a new user, they continuously drop the Hammer on people.
2. Don't click in through slickdeals, they get a fat commission and thats why they always FP these deals. Find the best cash back website for yourself. Sometimes cash back gets as high as 20% and is often 8% or more.

Are they pulling public records data or something? We used a different card with a different name, different email, different address (both billing and ship to), and different phone number
If you comb through public records like using one of those aggregator sites/services that those "we will buy your house with cash" use to get your info to spam you, yes it will show us with records at both addresses.
Which leads me to believe they are using one of those services
Yeah, they wouldn't even let me use PayPal. It's a prepaid man...

IP address perhaps? I usually get a relative themselves to order it and haven't dealt with this issue.

Walmart also is doing similar thing.
If you used prepaid card, their system would make your order as fault.

The difference between qvc/hsn v.s Walmart is that Walmart wouldn't be out of business anytime soon.

Is there a way to port in a number post activation? I want to use the bundled phone for 60 days to unlock it then transfer my main number into this service and use my existing unlocked phone. I haven't seen anyone mentioning this.
This is an interesting idea and would be perfect for me as well. Hoping someone can answer the poster's question.

You could do it right after activating; I would port the number right away, and then switch the service to the other handset once you've confirmed it works on the new handset. The new phone will unlock 60 days after activation, whether or not it has active service.

Just got mine and activated with "Keep my number" in an existing 24GB unltd plan that was to end next January 2025 and had 14GB data left. Once the new phone/plan was activated it showed a 1yr extension to January 2026 and total in 38GBs data (24 + 14 I had left). Perfect!

I then texted Unlock to 611611 but rec'd the message "your device is already unlocked" (my original device was already unlocked). So it seems the system wasn't updated yet with the new device wrt unlock status perhaps. Regardless, I intended to resell the new device anyway so I then performed another activation using a sim kit back to my original device. Everything went smoothly and the line still shows the new plan end date and data totals.

For the past few months several people have reported when activating a new phone with a current account the unlock message has been "device is already unlocked". System seems to be picking up info from the old unlocked phone.
My 2 never changed message but did unlock at expected time so there's something glitchy in the system. Previous phones used to get correct date.

Thanks. But since I've now switched back to my original device I assume the A15 won't unlock after 60 days anyway, right?

There are a few reports of one day activations unlocking so - maybe.
I always let mine go the 60 days to be safe, I've had to deal with support before & try to avoid it.

Interesting! If I happen to still have it in 60 days I'll report back with any updates.

I had the unlimited with 24gb data plan from the A53 purchase last year which was expiring. After activating the new phone and moving the number back to a byop sim in an iPhone this is what I see under my account on their website. The previous plan had around 400mb left.

Plan:
Smartphone $192 Plan /365 Days
Talk: Unlimited Talk
Text: Unlimited Text
Data: 48 GB Data Hotspot Capable
Service period ends:
10/27/2025

Usage

Data
430.92
MB LEFT
Service Period
363 days left
Service period ends 10/27/2025
Carryover balance
The benefits from your active balance will be consumed until they run out, then your carryover balance will be used.
Data
47.95
GB left

I saw on their website that they are running a double your data promo. Does anyone else see 48gb data? Wondering if the timing of my plan expiry had anything to do with it.

Double data?! I didn't get that and I activated my A15 yesterday too!

Update: Tried to chat with them, but they are saying my phone only came with 12GBs, and it was already doubled to 24GBs! Ugh.

It is 10/29/2024 today, but my order still says 'In Process estimated delivery 10/28/2024'. Does anyone else have the same delay? Thanks!

Every phone is different but for Samsung that stupid Knox gonna slow things way down. There are 5 Knox apps that you need to disable (or uninstall if you're more adventurous like me). After that, you will experience the speed increase DRAMATICALLY.
I don't mind optimizing a phone. Info on a good app & or guide is always helpful. I once heard about an app here called Fire Toolbox & used it to optimize an Amazon tablet. The performance gain was night & day difference tbh.
