Great game, but not sure if the Switch (or a console) is the best way to experience it. If you want it on-the-go, I'd opt for a mobile version; it's also available as part of Apple Arcade, if you have that subscription.

The Switch version is touch as well, or you can use the joypads. It actually works better than mobile for me due to the larger screen size. Mobile is still the way to go, though, as you always have that on you.

...but isn't the whole point of the Switch is that you can take it on-the-go? 🤔 Outside of having an existing Apple Arcade subscription, why would you recommend going for the mobile version instead of the Switch?

Because of the controls, mostly. I don't know how the console version deals with navigating the game screen, especially when dealing with lots of cards and elements throughout the screen. As far as I can tell, you can't use the Switch's touch screen when playing on handheld mode, but I may be wrong. Either mouse and keyboard (PC) or touch controls (mobile) seem more intuitive than joysticks/D-pad for this particular game.

You don't *need* an Apple Arcade subscription; you can get the standalone version on the iOS App Store for $9.99 and I assume the Android version is similarly priced. I'm only pointing out that the game is included with an Apple Arcade subscription.

"Don't buy it because of the controls, even though I have no direct knowledge of how control controls are implemented"
Not exactly great advice...
I'd say don't buy Balatro if you value sleep, physical activity, social connections, or personal hygiene - literally the game is stupid fun and before you know it you've been up until 4am trying to get your deck under 20 cards. Controls are fine on the Xbox, I'm sure they're fine on the Switch

Also vote for it on mobile. Started playing it yesterday from Apple Arcade, and even on the little phone screen with 6'3" dude hands, I had no issues.

Really great game to have on mobile for a distraction whenever you end up with time to kill.

I own both Mobile (non-Apple Arcade) and Switch Balatro. I have beat the game hundreds of times.

Mobile Balatro had a lot of early version glitches, which did get patched, but even now people are finding new bugs/glitches every week. One of the biggest glitches that were found was if you sold a Tarot/Joker or used a Tarot/Voucher, quit out to Main Menu, and then rejoined the game, you would keep the money you sold/card benefit and the Tarot/Joker/Voucher, meaning you could get Infinite money, Infinite hand size, Infinite consumable slots, etc. This is obviously a game-breaking glitch.

OTOH Console Balatro has ZERO bugs/glitches. It's been thoroughly played since it's been out for months.

IMO they are very equal experiences. Mobile is typically a smaller screen, which sucks, but it's very nice for the hyper-portability. I don't take my Switch to the gym, but I take my phone to the gym.

I say just get both (eventually). It's a great game. It's not like it's a $70 AAA. It's $25 for both at full price, and $23 right now.

If you want Mobile Balatro I say wait 6mo to a year for the existing glitches and bugs to be patched. Unless you enjoy using glitches. Some major ones like bugged unlocks and shop stasis and static vouchers are still not fixed. Also minor bugs like how the post-run selection defaults to white stake (on console it defaults to the next highest stake).

It's a fun game. I turn on the 4x play speed in the settings options within the game options. I'd only do that once you get the hang of the game. It really does speed up each play run

I've been playing it on iOS(bought it outright for $10) and I gotta say it is one of the best card games I've ever played. That said, if you have bad eyesight, be prepared to have your glasses on you because you can hardly read any of the numbers on the cards. There's no way to increase the font size of anything in the game so that would be my only gripe.. as you get familiar with the game this becomes less of an issue, but if you're new to it and don't know what all the cards are then you really are going to have a hard time reading them if you have any type of bad eyesight.

I bought this over the weekend for Switch and it has ruined my life. All I want to do is play this game. If you're looking for an easy game to get into that's challenging and fun, this is a great pick.

i bought this on PS5 when it first came out. I need to be way over 100 hours into it. It's totally worth this price.

Skip on Switch and just get on IOS or Andriod. Cheaper and way more convenient to have on mobile.
