This is a deal? It's been a while, so inflation means the comparable price is higher now, but I remember getting 42055 (Bucket Wheel Excavator) for $200, and that had 3929 pieces, per-piece was 5.1 cents. This set, by comparison is 20.8 cents per piece. Granted, this comes with the Control+ app system, but that's just an RC upgrade, doesn't justify a more-than doubling of the price per piece. I get that it's a discount off the original price, but I wouldn't buy this at this price. To each their own, of course.

I'm open to countering opinions; please someone help me understand why this set is worth it at 20 cents per piece?

We have the Liebherr Excavator which we purchased 3-4 years ago for about $400. It's a friggin awesome set and I really enjoyed the build with our kids. However, we have recently learned of Lepin and have shifted to other providers such as MouldKing for a fraction of the price. Nothing's as good as Lego but we've been very happy.

It's not! I stay around 10 cents for large set and down to 6-7 cents for small ones.
I have been collecting much less after Lego fk collectors by re-making old sets! This feeling is global and Lego is feeling the pain! Smilie

The remakes are not exact remakes. They are more in the spirit of the original design. At least the ones I've seen.
