If you already have the Samsung Shop app in your Android phone, uninstall it and reinstall (to make it forget your main account)
In the Samsung Shop app, create a brand new Samsung account with a different email address
Search for the S24 Ultra and look for the EDU option somewhere at the top right. Choose one of the Samsung exclusive colors (I chose the orange one). Select the 512Gb variant and select 'No' for trade in
Skip the add ons and go to your cart. You should automatically get a $50 bonus for being a new member
Scroll down and look for 'Add a promo/referral code'. Put in your referral code from your main Samsung account
Those are the steps I followed to get $717 before taxes. I then checked out using Affirm because sometimes Samsung cancels my orders if I use my credit card (not sure why).

It's due to the way Samsung does trade ins and the bonus $350 for not trading anything in.
You don't need anyone else's permission to do your own thing, but you basically just gave up an S23U for less than $180.
(Or because I referred to my second account?)

But if you get on chat within the return window and say you want to return it, they'll offer you a credit. I got around 10% back to my credit card.
Just start the ruturn process via chat, say you don't like the phone. Worse case, if they don't offer it you can say "oh, never mind. I'll keep it".
This worked with my Fold and my S24 ultra.
