For only $20 more you can get this with 16GB RAM from staples and there may be discounts with certain cards.
People say the same about HP, Dell, Microsoft, etc. I've had laptops for work and personal for 20+ years. I've heard complaints about every brand. I've had ASUS PCs in the small town library I maintain for about 10 years and the only issue we have had were OS related (mostly Windows Update)

Yes, but the Staples one has a TN panel while this one has (or at least according to the specs on the Asus website) an IPS panel.

Also, the Staples one is only available in store.

Edit: Actually, the picture on the Asus website under Key Features says IPS, but I remember they had the same pictire on the Staples website originally (they took it down after numerous people complained and ended up returning the laptop) and it turned out it was not IPS so I have a feeling the one on the Asus website might not be IPS either.

Most time I see 250 nits and 45% NTSC, they're TN panels

Yes, a good IPS is 500nits. These are washed out displays.

This definitely does not have an IPS panel. ASUS does not mention IPS anywhere in the official specifications, and it being shown in the picture doesn't mean anything. It means this series might have models with IPS display but not this particular model.
Both, staples and this, have TN panels.
And yes, I remember that old post as well, hence why I did not mention IPS anywhere in my post and neither has been mentioned over here.

Yup...

"45% NTSC color gamut, 250-nit"

Trash display.
