How is this vs the ATOMIC Dewalt line?
DeWalt has 3 lines of 18V/20V tools -- "20V MAX" are the baseline models (mix of brushed and brushless), "ATOMIC 20V MAX" are lighter and/or more compact versions, "20V MAX XR" are pro-oriented versions with all brushless motors and improved performance or durability. ATOMIC and XR can both be good choices and are both generally preferable to the baseline MAX models.

Good deal, in for one -- just bought the oscillating multitool with a charger and 2.0Ah battery for $100 from Amazon -- that will be going back -- wanted an impact driver and this includes the DCF845 which is a good 3-speed model (the other good DeWalt impact driver models are ATOMIC DCF850 which is 3-speed and more compact, and XR DCF860 which is more powerful than this model -- each can be had for about $100 at best as bare tool) -- so basically picking up the hammer drill (which I already have an older model) and 13Ah extra of batteries for $58 when comparing to those deals, after doing the hack/return.

Great deal - sell the old versions of the two drills and multi tool I've been using on FB marketplace and just got updated tools and two free batteries 👍🏼 Ahhhh the hustle, I'm feeling in my 20's again...

I went to the deal page for one item and could select either the Combo Kit for $399 or batteries and charger for $199 as "main item". I selected the kit and could see "Main Item + Free item". Added them to the cart, but the cart shows a combined price for 2 previously selected items.
HD won't allow partial returns, they asked me to return all the items for a full refund, and its only shipping, i can't return the router as it was shipped and not store pick up.

Anyone else have this problem? Would like to know before I attempt this. I need both shipped to the store for the purchase.

I'm kind of new to these hacks, but I understand that you cannot split up the packages and you have to return them as a whole. I'm assuming so, but my question is are you doing this with the receipt or getting back a gift card without a receipt? Also, if you return the initial deal, do you get to keep the free tool or is the price prorated or something else all together? TIA

Return WITH receipt and it goes back to original form of payment.
What you return is at the prorated price shown on your receipt along with what you keep is at the prorated price on your receipt.

Add an item with a free item to your cart and it might help understand it a bit.
I personally have NEVER had an issue with a partial return and have done quite a lot. If they ask I just tell them I ended up not needing it or changed my mind on that tool/battery/etc.

simple example would be BOGO $100 xitem
buy two xitems and they come out to $50 each
return one xitem for $50 and you've now esssentially paid $50 for one xitem

Wonderful explanation, thank you. Do you know the math? Like if the free item is $200, what's the formula? I'm looking at other deals and trying to figure it out

my guess is subtract the free items cost, split in the same proportion as the % of each items cost towards the total, respectively.

(kept item $) * (main item $) / [ (main item $) + (free item $)]

there are some odd thing here and there, but this will get you your answer 98% of the time. works on the Lowe's deals too. You want the price you'd pay for each item in the equation, which doesn't always equal what they say you're saving.

Just want to chime in and say I had absolutely no problem with this partial return. Sorry you are having an issue, but it is in no way a HD policy to not return a line item on a receipt, potentially just a power hungry manager, if recommend try buying from a separate store or, if that's not an option, calling customer service (sometimes they will force the hand of the local store). I wanted to wait until I actually did it since it had been a few months since partaking in a hacked deal.

On a separate note, looks like the hack police visited overnight and gave thumbs down to anyone acknowledging this hacked deal. 😂

Yes, had the same problem. Not sure what happened. I ended up having to pay with a different card.
