When they refund you TIV they refund tax also. They adjust TIV with phone price and recalculate tax and refund the amount. Ideally the refund will be more than TIV.

They apply the tax rate before the trade-in discount making this deal a flop. I remembered trading in my s21 for a s22+ at Best Buy and the tax was applied after the discount, amounting to only $11.62.

Nevermind, I just saw that they charge tax on full amount. Once they confirm the trade in device and matches the description, they'll refund you that trade in value and associated taxes within 7-10 days.

I have 3 - phones 13 pro max from the old T-mobile Best Buy trade-in deal 3 years ago.

Should I get these S24 after trading in and then turn them in at the Apple store for max redemption for IP16?

Edit: checked apple website, showing $330 for this vs $400 direct ip13 trade in.

Get $330 trade-in credit toward a new iPhone.1
Or get $330 trade-in credit on an Apple Gift Card.1

I also got a Pixel 9 Pro from the best buy deal. After using it for two weeks, I sold it on ebay for $750 (650 net). Too big, too heavy, scrolling not smooth. Got an S23 instead and it's the perfect size and weight, and doesn't have a massive camera bar.
