It's dramatically better and cheaper (thanks inflation!) because the price hasn't gone up, but now has 2x RAM and 2x storage in the base model. Runs upcoming AI features with a great 1-year-old top A-series processor, great for gaming, and runs cooler (3nm). The size is its magic. Not a pro-level iPad but the smallest, great for specific uses. Price won't drop more than $50 off at any retailer, usually, for Xmas promo. Check Best Buy open box for more savings.
I've owned a few—perfect to bring everywhere. Phenomenal notebook, supports the new Apple Pro Pencil too!

Comparing to the current deals of $350 for the 64gb 6th gen, this seems pretty decent. Ordered one for pickup at Tustin, CA. Only blue and space gray left in stock for the wifi versions.

Wait for open box deals to appear for it … within a week or two of release I got the new 13" iPad Air for $673 in "good" open box condition for a $799 iPad Air. Was perfect actually … wait for them to offer $50 off for it as Xmas deals appear … open box deals drop commensurately

Usually great deals appear the time of year because of the volume of purchases, especially after Black Friday and after Xmas, lots of return returns lots of open box deals

From the reviews I've seen the new 7 is barely better than the 6 😔 hopefully the 6 comes down dramatically in price

I understand there will be other deals near Xmas. But usually microcenter is still a solid price point during that period. Especially without having to pull shenanigans or deal with gift cards. Def tempted

Feel like most stores dropped prices and sold off stock prior to the announcement. Tho I imagine more used ones will pop up

Feel like it's a no-brainer for someone coming from a <5. Or someone looking to buy their first. I'd have trouble justifying it coming from a 6. Was hoping they'd at least go 90Hz

Understand … takes some work with the gift cards …but I'm used to it.
I'm getting the base cellular … after selling my mini 6 cellular, and working the Xmas and gift card deals … I'll only have to pay $91 for a new one that's dramatically better and ready for the future.

Yeah. Totally understandable. If you got a use for the cards it's the best deal. What are your thoughts on the 128GB? Good enough?

Yeah … understand. But the mini sales are only 0.4% of Apples annual revenues so I'm thrilled it's still around and getting such good upgrades.
The size is the magical feature and the price … will always be a trickle down set of upgrades every few years till they add a Pro model.
This is the best set of upgrades it's ever gotten. It's really a huge boost over the 6 I just sold. 2x RAM is really a welcome boost.
I hope it becomes a great Apple AI entry point and really gooses sales upward … might make a Pro version appear one day.
