Inb4 the obligatory, "This is trash! I bought a $12 Ozark Trail tumbler and it keeps my coffee hot for 8 hours!" That's not the purpose of this product. This product is for people who want to set their beverage to a specific temperature and have it maintain that.

If you buy this product thinking the intention is just to slow the cooling of your hot beverage (like any stainless steel vacuum tumbler would do) that's not the intention of this product.

I recently purchased the 14oz version of this model. Few thoughts:

1) The 14 oz model is fine size-wise. I wouldn't want one smaller, though.

2) Battery life is outrageously bad without purchasing the lid for this. The 80 min claim is laughable. That would be on the lowest temp setting if you poured boiling water into this thing. If you just put in a normal cup of coffee and want it on the hotter end of the spectrum, which I assume most people do, you're looking at like 20-30 minutes. With the lid, you can get 2+ hours.

3) The app is very unpolished. It often says there is no liquid in the cup and won't heat despite it being full. My battery % is also all over the place and will jump from 100% to 55% in a matter of seconds, so I never really know where it's at.

Overall, it's a 3/5 product. Battery life needs major work and the app is bad. When a product 100% relies on an app to display info, it needs to be polished. Their dev team should be embarrassed by the state of the app.

Agree. The 10oz is too small for a regular mug. 14oz is the right size for many.

Agreed, I bought the lid for mine and it's great at keeping the perfect temperature

I'm the type to sit on my desk for hours while sipping a cup of coffee or tea. This cup seems to be perfect for my needs except for the fact that you can get a cup heater that let you adjust the temperature for $15.
For portable use, hence the battery, it's really not enough room nor battery to last for more than an hour or two.
As a gadget geek who would buy just about anything, I tried very hard to justify for buying this.
Ok, I lied. I bought one before. It died. App keeps disconnecting to the mug and had to be reset all the time, and the battery lasted only 5 mins after 1.5 years of use.

You could save at least $600 a year by disconnecting your internet.

I just purchased a 14 oz version of this. I usually make a 10 oz coffee from my pod machine. There is just enough room to install the lid without making a mess. I use two teaspoons of sugar & powdered creamer.

I presume the 10 oz version would be the same with an 8 oz cup of coffee.

Overall, it does what it says it'll do and since I'm a coffee sipper, it works well for me. The lid helps retain the heat so it is a worthy addition. Be careful though, the 10 oz and 14 oz lids are different sizes so if you're ordering one be sure to get the correct one.

We'll see how well it lasts. Battery longevity seems to be the biggest long term issue.

The whole point of this mug is to cool down your coffee. If they put a lid on it your coffee would stay hot all the time.

Good coffee is generally best drunk "warm" not "hot". The value of this mug is that it allows your coffee to quickly drop towarm, and then keeps it there.People who want boiling hot coffee can just microwave it whenever it gets too cold for you.

I use the 14oz version of the ember mug v1, and I do not have nor want the lid.

This is a mug, not a thermos or travel mug, and like most non-smart mugs, it doesn't come with a lid.

I generally use it on my desk, setting it down on the charging coaster after taking a sip. It will keep the tea/coffee at your desired temperature indefinitely, lid or not, provided you're using the charging coaster.

You'd only need the lid if you plan to carry it around, use it on battery, away from the coaster.
