These things are awful. Even if you adjust your expectations to the absolute minimum of what you have experienced from magnets throughout your existence, these still somehow drastically underperform your expectations. It can barely even hold up a 1 lb tool. The image on the product page of the sledge hammer is hilarious and 100% photoshopped. Here is a <1 min video review where you can see it struggle to hold a relatively small pair of vice grips.

Basically its a huge piece of rubber with 4 small rectangular magnets buried so deep inside they barely attract anything through the rubber. Very weak, doesn't even look half as strong as the ones that Harbor Freight regularly sells for $1-2 (though those are not covered in a protective rubber coating). You can wrap one of those in electrical tape and have something that is functionally very similar (though much stronger) for a fraction of the price.

$8.99 is the standard price at Blain's, so that goes to show you what Amazon's $11.60 discounted from $17 BS really means. These would be a deal at <$5 for a set of two, I could imagine finding some use for them around the house at that price. Anything more and IMO you are wasting your money. And even then, I can hardly imagine a situation in which something so weak would be useful in a tool environment, which is what they are advertised to be used for.
