The G29 is a great entry level wheel for someone looking to get into the hobby. If you want to upgrade down the road then go for it and you'll be able to resell the G29 at a minimal loss.
$160 is a great price.

I've purchased the G29 open box and it looks brand new. There was a sharp edge that I found on the buttons (I filed it down), so I'm suspecting these were brand new that didn't pass cosmetic quality control. Otherwise, works great on PC, PS3 & ps4.

I know. I'm saying even Amazon ships items for free 35$ and up for non-Prime customers. Just mildly infuriating to see Woot not offering free shipping on a 100$+ item (without needing Prime membership).

All the returns from the sale a couple weeks back are rolling in. This is one of those things that's way more fun in theory than it is in practice, unless you can go all out with a sim setup. Most arcade style racers are just a lot easier to play well with a controller.

Just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't get a gear driven steering wheel. Read and watch some reviews. Minimum belt driven for entry level, the cheapest option would be Thrustmaster T300RS. I got it $330 on sale in November last year. So, I'd honestly wait until the end of November. I know, it's a higher price.

I was just you, going to get the Logitech because it was cheaper. But when you go down the rabbit hole you'll understand why it's worth starting with belt driven. For example, this thing is loud when it comes to force feedback. And it is well known that it doesn't pick up little inputs, Like if you want to slightly turn the wheel to align your car, it usually doesn't register until you turn the wheel enough.

This thing would be better for a little kid where you know they won't really get interested. For anyone that actually wants to get into sim racing, belt standard. If you have a PC, there are some decently affordable direct drive systems out there since they don't have to pay a console license.

The reviews mention how this is a starter wheel. Which would be a better investment if I knew I liked racing sims? (Looking for better steering wheel feedback, more accurate pedals, perhaps a stick shift too)
