Sony's sound better but Bose fit more comfortably. I keep the Bose strictly for flights, Sony's for day to day use!

These are slightly better than QC45 but if you already have the 45, I'd say not worth the upgrade.

I bought a set given the deal was solid. Ended up returning. The Sony xm4 has much better sound and bass if that's what you're after.

Nice. I love all the different color options. My son has a pair of black Bose QuietComfort Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones and they are great. He uses them mainly for when go to the movie theatre. Makes the volume at the movies not so loud for him.

Just updated the firmware through the app on mine and they're now bricked. Bose will not do anything or acknowledge the issue. They have a good rep but this definitely seems like something they should own up to and help people out. I now have an expensive pair of earmuffs.

Costco is actually better because AMZN charges $229 for the black color. All the others are $200.

Perfect. I ended up ordering the QC Ultra Diamond 60th Edition w/ the AMEX offer. I received the QC White Smoke but don't like the color, and the black one is $30 more. For that extra cost just for color, I'd rather go for the QC Ultra limited edition.

You certainly might have better noise reduction but all metrics indicate the XM3 has better ANC than the XM5. The XM5 just has more passive noise blocking. But that can be achieved very easily and cheaply, but it has its limiations. For earbuds (not these headphones), using any set of good foam tips (Comply used to be the best for IEMs) will dramatically reduce noise. So you can take $20 earbuds and make them good at noise blocking. They just become quite uncomfortable over extended use.

For headphones, manufacturers seek to use high levels of passive noise blocking will use a really tight seal (similar to a noise blocking headset used at airports or gun ranges) and noise blocking materials. But those also have issues
