Not saying this wouldn't work well as I've never used an inner tie rod tool like this, but having worked on cars since about 2003 I can say that I think this would be a waste of $. Inner tie rods are typically very tight and I feel like this would be very hard to get the torque you need / not slip / even just securely tighten it to the inner tie rod seems like it'd be difficult for most applications.

Until you run into a vw inner tie rod that is completely round with no hex or any way to remove it. This tool comes in handy, I don't have this brand but the same tool and it works great.

These are around $8.50 at rock auto. But there is $9.99 shipping charge unless you are already buying something else that ships from the same Rockauto warehouse.
I have this same brand and I have been happy with it.

Be aware that depending on how you have the tool oriented, you have to adjust your torque setting or you can apply too little or too much torque.

Never done front end work on a VW so that explains that. Good to know.
