I have the 951 XC from the Costco deal that happened in Feb 2024 and it's a great bike. This deal is still great except for the final sale part. With Costco, you can return the bike if it doesn't work out for you.

The XC stands for Cross Country, meaning it's a mountain bike designed for both climbing and descending. It has full suspension but won't have as much travel as a trail, Enduro, or downhill bike. But for those who want a mountain bike for the exercise you'll appreciate how light this XC bike is as it has a carbon frame. The components are pretty good for the price, but this clearly isn't a 3800 bike. At 2k it's a great deal even without Costco's return policy.
If you are really patient, I suspect Costco will do a similar sale on these as last year at some point, but you might need to wait until next year.

One last thing to add, don't get accessories from Intense, they are trash.

Just did a quick comparison and the costco one comes with SRAM while the intense comes with Shimano parts. I still think the costco one is a better deal when its on discount for $1500. Could use the $500 difference to upgrade some of the parts if needed.

The 951 seems like a pretty solid deal for a carbon frame and mid-high tier Shimano GRX groupset. I would personally rather not have a press fit bottom bracket in a carbon frame, but some people prefer it so ymmv. I've heard multiple mechanics trash the wheels and tires that are on this bike (I think they're pretty standard fare for brands looking to reduce cost) so you'll likely want to upgrade those first. But even if you spend another $400-500 on wheels and $150 on tires I still think you're at a pretty good price for a very solid build on paper.

I bought the 1x Sram when it was on sale last (back in march I think?) My complaint about it is I don't like how the apex mechanical shift works, one lever to control up and down shifts based on how far you press it in. I'm thinking about either buying the wireless apex derailer and shifters (around 700 bucks) or upgrading the whole groupset. I might have been happier with the shimano 2x

I also bought the 951 XC in the deal earlier this year. $2K is a good price. I liked the bike, and would have kept it if it fit me correctly. I ordered the size L, which Intense customer support told me was the right size, but the seat was a hair too high given my inseam and I didn't want to deal with swapping in a shorter dropper post. Otherwise the bike felt and rode great. I ended up sticking with a used Trek Top Fuel instead.

The same thing happened with my XL 951 XC. The dropper is about a 3/4" too high. I just use a bit of paracord to keep it from maxing out. I also upgraded to a Spanx riser bar.

Ditto, I wanted to buy the shimano 2x, but they were gone quick on that Costco sale.
Frame sizing is a concern if it's not returnable. I'm 5'11'' and bought both the Large and Med size...
kept the Medium and returned the Large... Although my seat tube is just short of max extension and I replaced
the bars and stem w/ an longer integrated carbon cockpit. I ride mostly road, so Medium worked better for me than Large.
I also upgraded the wheels with carbon aero gravel wheels and have been putting over 350 miles / month on it ever since.... Love the Bike! Thumbs up!!! yummy

Their gravel bike is a mix of 11 speed GRX400/GRX600 parts. It is not worth $2000 in 2024 when you can have SRAM AXS wireless or GRX820 for the same money. 951 bike is 23 lbs with carbon frame, when GRIZL 7 alloy is 23.5 and comes with GRX820 for $200 less. If you are not looking for a major brand, and Intense is not one of those, then you can get 2x12 di2 electronic shifting gravel bike from bikedirect which is highly rated https://www.bikesdirect.com/produ...-bikes.htm

What was great a year ago is very so-so these days

Yeah, that's a good deal. Along the same lines, if you don't mind a road bike with the ability to do some milder dirt roads, this all carbon Felt is also under $2k with 105 Di2 and a nice light wheelset. Comes with 30mm tires but could probably fit up to 34mm if you want to do more gravel with it: https://outlet.wheelandsprocket.c...5di2parent

I bought the 1x from Costco and my buddy bought the 2x. I have tried both extensively and can answer any Qs. I already had a road bike so I wanted something pure gravel. 1x is perfect for it. Is Shimano shifting more intuitive? Yes. Does it break down more? Also yes. SRAM 1x rarely ever fails on a ride. The company confirmed they have 1/3 the returns on the 1x than the 2x. The price of $1500 was a NO brainer. The parts cost more. For $2k? Still a good deal. If you don't have a road bike, get the 2x and use it as a hybrid and simply switch out the wheelset for road wheels/tires. Upgrade recommendations: pedals, seat post, wheels. The wheels are unnecessary heavy. I also upgraded the handlebars for carbon, but going back to original for comfort.

The bike has GRX800 series derailleurs, 600 series shifters, and 105 cassette. The brakes are 400 series, but that's about it. So saying it's a 600/400 groupset is a bit disingenuous imo, it is mechanical but it's like one or two steps down from the best mechanical gravel groupset available and some people do still prefer mechanical over electronic shifting.

I wouldn't say it's a crazy good deal, but it's a good option around the $2k price point. You can get better for $2500-3000 though.

I bought the XC 2 years ago for $3k, ride it on everything including black-rated trails. I ride upper Strava times with guys on $7-9k 23# bikes, it's geometry and efficiency is excellent for the cost. I did a 140mm air shaft fork mod and swapped a GX AXS from another bike. A friend test rode mine, bought one and won his category on 3 races. At $2k, it's a steal...

Damn, I want the trail bike to go on sale again. It was 2k in the late winter.
