Just an FYI, the AMDs have an issue with going above 6000mhz ram, you have to tell the motherboard to decouple from the cpu and pay a small 3-5% penalty in fps and latency.

Your cpu might initially work with just selecting the expo 6400 but if it starts freezing or blue screening. Just go into bios and decouple it from the cpu.

The cas32 t group ram is better than the cas36 corsair ram for gaming. If you can select different ram get 6000mhz cas30 (sweet spot price/perf) or 8000mhz but it's not cheap. The motherboard will then use the 6k and 8k as divisible by the 2000mhz that the infinity fabric that amd uses is set to. And that won't require decoupling . So you actually gain 2cas latency by going to cas30 and there's no 3-5% penalty in latency from decoupling from the cpu.

The reason it's so important to read this note is because at 6 cores. you are going to be cpu bound when you get a newer gpu from nvidia 5000 series. so when you are cpu bound the difference in cas latency can easily be another 5% fps on top of the 5% penalty.

That's 10% extra fps if you read this comment and select 6000mhz cas30 ram for very little cost difference for that extra fps.

Also for those who want to get their hands dirty you can manually set that cas32 ram to cas30 and 6400mhz to 6000mhz in the bios but you have to test or research for all of the rest of the sub timings and voltage, and that is atleast 30mins to an hour of work.

Most popular multiplayer games will be able to hit 200fps avg 4k lowest settings ( if you have the gpu for it and dlss3/fsr3) using that cpu. so i think that's an awesome budget target
It's cheaper to add each item individually. This will activate a better combo deal (7600X + B650M) and the combo discount on the RAM. The result is $340 with Corsair RAM or $330 with Team RAM.

Thermalright Peerless Assassin has been the go to cooler. It's well reviewed as being one of the best air coolers and is very affordable

Anyone have a recommendation for a budget air cooler for those who aren't planning to overclock. The Ryzen 5 7600 has a higher TDP of 105 watts instead of typical 65 watt for most "mainstream" CPU
I would second the Peerless Assassin and not recommend any water cooling solution if you want something cheap with as little maintenance as possible. Air cool is still simplest and will last 2 or 3 times as long as most AIO.

I use the peerless assassin on my 7800x3d. It has a TDP of 120w. Works great, no complaints and it's cheap.

This seems good. Anybody know how much better the 7800x3d would be with a 4070 Super VS this cpu for primarily Wow (but other more intense single player games too)? Was looking at the microcenter combo with that CPU and it's obviously more expensive..... But this is at least AM5 with so could drop one of those in eventually.

I'm going to build a PC for my older brother using my old 1080 ti and PSU, and I'm thinking this is about as good an option as I've seen recently for $330 w/free SSD. The only issue is I think this may be overkill for his needs, as he's not a big PC user and will only be using it for games. Should I wait for a Ryzen 5 5600 system to come along for cheaper? Another option is I wait for the 9800X3D, buy that and a new mobo/ram, and give him my i5 13600 setup.

I wonder how well the team group ram works with the Phantom Spirit or Peerless Assassin. The ram modules look quite tall.

IMO, this is actually better than the current microcenter bundles. You get faster RGB ram, two sticks of 16gb (instead of one single stick), and a 1tb NVMe for only $30/$40 more.

I haven't used Newegg in a decade+. Since then, I've seen many comments about how Newegg has gone downhill, especially with their customer service.
How is Newegg currently? Any concerns with ordering with them nowadays? Thx!
