Interesting. I wonder if the oil leaking problem is common in Dewalt chainsaws. I have a pole saw that I just used yesterday that was completely dry.
It was definitely the case for these first generation DeWalt chainsaws. I have the 18" which was the next generation and have not had a problem. (This reminds me that I should check my pole saw for leaks).

Limited availability to specific zip codes. Not available for delivery to zip codes near me, but available to zip codes in the next county. That kind of sucks...

Reddit is saying this thing has oil leak issues. Or is that a different model? I'm still considering something like this as a "gift suggestion" for me even though I don't have an immediate need for it.
For all those talking about the oil leaking, it does leak everything out under certain circumstances. I was frustrated with mine when I stored it upright (imagine holding the saw with two hands and placing it on the ground in that orientation). You would think that it should be stored like this, but my chainsaw leaked everywhere. When I started storing mine on its side so that you can see the oil fill cap on top, it stopped leaking like a sieve! Again, try storing it on its side so that the oil fill cap is facing upward as if you were filling it with oil.

I have this saw and love it!! Having a saw you can start up with a press of a button after 6 months in storage is so much easier then a gas powered one that can become fickle.
I use mine to cut hardwoods and have even cut trees with a 24" diameter. Takes a lot more work then my gas powered with a larger blade but less work then the amount of cord pulls a seldom used gas saw can require. I ride my saw hard, felling large diameter trees and even having gotten this tool stuck in trunks and forcing it out the paddle has remained undamaged and unbent. Which is surprising as it is quite thin.
There is a terrible oil leak problem so I try to calculate how much oil I will use as the rest will end up on the floor. It will leak oil.
If you are already invested in the Dewalt system then this saw is a no brainer. Even with the oil leak, this saw at this price and the convenience it offers makes it a very very useful tool.
Two 4amp batteries and a quick charger will keep you running all day.

if you read my post on the last time this thing was listed on slickdeals you know how much I love this little saw.
My first one never did leaked the many years I used it. The new one I bought a month ago was filled with oil and I've checked where it sits and no leak. So I feel like it's not all the saws that leak but most of them [dewalt.com]. I got fortunate. However, a very real problem that Dewalt should have fixed. I feel bad for those that have had this issue. Quite irritating.
The leak might be why we've seen two SD post recently for this product

All chainsaws leak, if you whine about it you probably used it once and stored it incorrectly. Empty it if it bothers you so much.

I've had this same chainsaw for a year and it works great. Upgraded it to a 14 inch bar and it does very well with soft wood.

This is a banger little saw. Got one on the last posting and have used it lots already. Fits perfectly between the pole saw and the Stihl on the tools-for-tasks chart.
Exactly, this is my setup as well. But I put a 14" bar on it and it's even better. It's great for quick pruning. This is a killer price.

Seems like these are being clearanced out because of an oil leak that can't be fixed with an additional o-ring. Most oil tanks on these may be defective. Have to disassemble the whole saw to epoxy the leaky tank seams. The DeWalt recommended 3/4 o-ring did not work. I guess there is a reason it is 50% off.
