Great deal. Probably the cheapest UHD 4k friendly drive out there.

ETA: Well it would be, but I do not see this price on Amazon. Dead deal?

Drive is supported for MakeMKV if any of you are into that
(means you can rip and play 4K UHD discs using this drive)

I remember similar deals were somewhat common at Fry's. Good times.

You can purchase from eBay a pre-flashed of the same model for about 160 if you don't want to do the flashing yourself.

You can buy an external shell to house the drive for about 30 to $40 or get a $7 USB dongle and don't use a shell.

Excellent drive. I'm still using this model that I bought back in 2019. Get an external case and you're good to go. Flashing it is simple, if you're into that.

Ok, I take it back. I found evidence a flash will work, but you may have to use the 16NS60 firmware…

If you plan on using as intended, any case will do. Vantec cases are great. Otherwise, a google search will show a good usb/sata case Orr cable to use for flashing.

If you're gonna spend that much, might as well get the best...Pioneer for $215. Probably slower ripping speeds, but quieter and more reliable than LG.

From this site:

"The only flasher anyone should be using now is Martys SDF GUI it now has built in safety's still check out the requirements and follow the recommending firmware but it shouldn't let you brick an old drive and should detect if the firmware is encrypted automatically"

Having used Marty's SDF GUI myself to flash a drive, I highly agree with this statement.
