REI has gotten to be very expensive for the quality of most things being sold there these days. I shopped a lot at REI from the mid 1990s but in the last 15 years or so, quality has dropped, benefits of shopping at REI have dropped, and REI has become very corporate. It's been several years since I bought anything there, and in the last decade, it was 1-2 small items (like Darn Tough Socks, which are very good quality) annually.
