Em, you buy food for sustainance first. A lot of work and resources goes into making the food. The money you pay for it doesn't actually reflect the value of the food in those terms.
When you return food, it goes to waste and is not resold. They just put it in trash. If the food is not spoiled and you just don't like the taste, please give it away to friends/family/local soup kitchen/neighbourhood bum. You will be out of a few dollars, but you'll be respecting the life sustaining value of food, the environment, and all the hard work that went into producing it.
I wish my Costco still had the vanilla bean maple syrup. That stuff was heavenly. I thought they typically stocked it in the fall, but haven't seen it this year
EDIT - Answering my own question:
Costco currently has no direct access to process refunds on Same Day orders.
Return & repurchase (or)
try to get Instacart & Costco together on the phone to get Instacart to do a price adjustment (or)
courtesy adjustment by Costco for the cost difference, but on a different Costco order placed on your account
are the three options at this point.
May not be worth your time if the cost difference is small.

Probably nationwide....I've seen it in a few locations here in PA. I didn't realize it was anything super special, I just bought it because it was on sale and the lid on the Kirkland syrup pisses me off
I swear I hate people who return opened food just because they don't like the flavor/taste.Should really cancel their memberships.
When they rake in over 70% of their revenue from memberships, you should know that Costco does not care if you (as a member) return a food item. Not sure why it bothers you, if Costco just cares about maintaining and growing its membership pool.
Edit: I bought this syrup in store several weeks ago and the bourbon taste is very strong. Not returning it, but I wouldn't recommend.

We use maple syrups in our coffees, my husband loves this one! I stocked up on the special edition maple leaf one as well. It's a much deeper taste than the regular kirkland maple syrup, which i also still buy for the kids and for breakfast things π big maple syrup fans over here. Ill check my costco when i go today! Thanks

Many stores have store brands that say if you don't like it they will refund you. Some even have a 200% guarantee. So not liking the taste is a major reason people want to return something. Why wouldn't you?

The web form for adjustment doesn't seem to pull Same Day orders: https://customerservice

It's $33 if you buy it on their website [crownmaple.store]. Or you could get it for $25 on Amazon [amazon.com]. Not that I'd ever buy it at those prices, but yeah.
