The TCL I bought from BF in 2021 has been bricked since mid 2023. A firmware update didn't work and it overrode the previous firmware. It was out of warranty so both TCL and Roku pointed fingers at each other to get the firmware. Seemed totally fixable since it's software related but I couldn't get the right help from either party.

Ive had my Roku TCL for 5 years without problem. You usually only hear from the loud complainers.

Extended warranties are a waste of money for most people. The companies make so much money on them which is why they're pushed so hard. Self insure instead with everything and you will come out ahead in the long run.
